Daily life in Japan, along with imagination, memory, and the self in the act of drawing, all blend together—what I feel naturally takes shape

and rises to the surface. As I create each piece, it feels as though I’m opening a door and stepping outside. Yet it’s clear that my childhood experiences still influence me.

My attitude toward drawing hasn’t changed at all since I was a child. I want to cherish that sensibility within me.
